McCoy Associates, Inc.
was contracted by the City of Akron, Bureau of Engineering to provide
environmental and engineering services for both the preliminary and final
development phases of this challenging project.
The project includes reconstruction and widening of 1.2 miles of a major
arterial highway in the City of Akron from 1,000 feet east of Kelly Avenue to
the city limits, approximately 500 feet east of Hilbish Avenue. |

The project also involved reconstruction
of 2,500 feet of S.R. 241, including an additional turn lane.
During preliminary design, several alternative alignments were studied and
the preferred alignment was selected. These studies included preliminary
engineering, hazardous material studies, cultural resources and ecological
studies, and the preparation of an environmental document.
Water quality permits were obtained in the final design phase.
Extensive coordination with utility companies was necessary due to the
ramp alignment, widening, and service road addition. The private utility
lines will be relocated as necessary to accommodate the improvements. |
