project involved extensive feasibility studies and comprehensive environmental
documentation for the proposed construction of approximately sixteen miles of a
four-lane, divided, limited access highway on new alignment with three new
interchanges to replace an existing two-lane section of U.S. Route 30. The
project will complete two existing partial interchanges connecting existing
freeway sections located at the eastern and western termini.
Environmental services included:
• Environmental site screening for over 450 parcels
• Phase I and Phase II environmental site assessments
• Cultural resource investigations consisting of archaeological and
historic architectural studies
• Ecological investigations consisting of wetlands identification and
delineation, stream impact studies, terrestrial and aquatic surveys, and
threatened and endangered species investigations
• Noise analyses
• Public involvement including three major public meeting open houses and
a formal public hearing
• Socio-economic studies
• Traffic pattern analysis
• Preparation of the final environmental assessment document in E.I.S.
format
• 404 Army Corps of Engineers Permit
• 401 State Water Quality Certification
